New Golden Thursday and Tablet Loan Program for 55 plus

Markham Wesley Centre (MWC) is very grateful for the $16,877 in funding from the Ontario Government's Senior Grant Community Program through the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility. There are many people who would be benefited from the Golden Thursday program. MWC has been serving the community for over 7 years. The Centre has been providing recreational and community programs to over 2, 000 members and the public. The Golden Thursday program will provide a platform and tools where seniors can come together to learn, socialize and stay connected with the community. Especially during this time of increased physical distancing and starting to enter into the post-pandemic, interaction with others, keeps mind healthy and body active are extremely important to isolated older adults as they become the most vulnerable. Along with a tablet loan program for seniors who are unable to afford the cost of owning mobile communication devices or less tech-savvy in the community can now enjoy using an up-to-date mobile device at no cost. We look forward to invite all our guests and members from our community to join our program or borrow a tablet for free. 媒體發布:安省政府長者社區基金撥款批准通知媒體發布 2021年11月22日萬民衛斯理社區服務中心非常感謝安省政府長者社區基金為萬民衛斯理社區服務中心提供了$16,778加元「黃金星期四」資助撥款。此項全新服務將會讓更多社區人士受惠。萬民衛斯理社區服務中心已經為社區服務了7年多。中心一直為2,000多名會員和公眾提供各類文娛康樂和社區活動。全新的「黃金星期四」計劃將為亞裔社區長者提供一個平台和工具一起學習、社交並與社區保持緊密聯繫。尤其對於社交距離的限制及現已進入的後疫情時代，與他人互動，保持頭腦健康和身體活躍對獨居長者尤其重要，皆因他們是最脆弱的群體之一。我們同時亦為一些負擔不起價格高昂或對使用電子產品沒有太大信心的長者提供「平板電腦免費租借計劃」，好讓大家也能享受電子科技帶來的便利及與外界保持聯繫。如欲使用參加我們舉辦的講座或工作坊及了解詳情，請電郵至info@markhamwesley.com 。潘啟耀董事會主席萬民衛斯理社區服務中心905-940-3688charles.poon@markhamwesley.com
